What does the 3G/UMTS network mean for me?
The new network will enable you to enjoy many benefits, such as:
- Sophisticated SIM card-based handsets and PDAs
- Worldwide roaming capabilities
- Storing your handset contacts on your SIM card
- Handset flexibility (For example, you can have a PDA for work during the day and another handset when you go out at night. You just need to take your SIM card from one handset and insert it into another; it’s that easy!)
- Video calling (handset dependant)
- Web surfing speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps
How much more will the new network cost me?

- CellularOne will have a dual network working side-by-side so you can select the one that best suits your lifestyle. You can stay with your current handset if you remain on the existing network as we are not discontinuing our current network, just adding a new one to offer our customers more choice

When will the 3G/UMTS network be available?
- The 3G/UMTS network is available now. Contact our customers service representatives on 700-7600 if you have any questions.
What handsets will be available?
- Please have a look under our selection of PDA's and phones which will have a 3G symbol next to them.
If I have a Blackberry Bold from another company, will it work on CellularOne's 3G Network?
- Yes; CellularOne’s new network will support the BlackBerry Bold regardless of where it was purchased but you must make sure that it is unlocked as some companies lock their handsets
- We can not guarantee that all of the features on the BlackBerry will work.
If I want to purchase a cellular phone overseas will CellularOne be able to "unlock" it for use in Bermuda?
- The phone must be “unlocked” prior to coming into CellularOne
- We can not guarantee that all of the features on the phone will work
- When you purchase a phone overseas you will need to be very specific as the phone or PDA must be UMTS compatible and work on the 850MHz frequency in order to work in Bermuda.
Will I receive 3G/UMTS coverage when roaming overseas?

This will depend on what brand and model number of 3G UMTS phone you purchase. The following are the 3G UMTS frequencies
that are used overseas:
3G UMTS 850/1900MHz for roaming in North America and Australia
3G UMTS 2100MHz for roaming in Europe and the rest of the world
If I travel to a country that doesn't have a 3G/UMTS network, will my 3G phone still work?

Yes, our 3G UMTS phones also have built-in quad-band GSM radios (850/900/1800/1900 Mhz) that will allow you to seamlessly roam on over 200+ GSM/UMTS networks worldwide. The following are the GSM frequencies that are used overseas: GSM 850/1900 for roaming in North America, and some parts of the Caribbean
GSM 900/1800 for roaming in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and some parts of the Caribbean.
Can I use my overseas SIM card in my 3G phone when I travel?
- Yes
Will your 3G/UMTS handsets be available for prepaid?
- For the time being, prepaid will only be available on the current CDMA network.

What is the cost of roaming?
Cellular One offers competitive roaming rates that make it affordable to stay in touch when you travel. Pay only $1.50 per minute local access charges plus applicable long distance/toll charges (plus local taxes where applicable) when traveling anywhere in North America, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and South America.

BREW FAQ
What is BREW?
BREW allows users to select, purchase and download, over-the-air, a variety of games, ringtones, entertainment options and productivity programs - anytime, anywhere - directly to their BREW-enabled device.

Can I have BREW installed on my old phone?
No. Devices will be sold with BREW built into them. You cannot install BREW on a non BREW-enabled device.

Do I have to pay extra to use BREW?
In fact there are two different charges i.e. the charge of downloading the application, which can be viewed directly on your phone and the cost of using the CellularOne network (see the brochure or training document for details).

However, if you have already downloaded an application that does not require a network connection to run, you can use that application anytime, anywhere with no connection and no network data charges.
However, you will be charged for using the network for any multi player games.

Can I remove BREW from my phone?
If the user does not want to use BREW, they do not have to. BREW is a feature as opposed to a software program that can be un-installed.

The user is not charged for having BREW on the device. They are only charged when they choose to download an application.

Monthly subscriptions to applications MUST be removed from the phone so that the customer will not keep getting charged for the application.

Will BREW work if I travel internationally or if I go somewhere I cannot get wireless phone coverage?
There are two types of applications: those that require a network connection and those that do not. You cannot download new applications when travelling because this requires a network connection. However, if you have already downloaded an application that does not require a network connection to run, you can use that application anytime, anywhere with no connection and no network charges.

What happens when I receive a phone call during a BREW download?
The DATA connection (BREW download) will not be interrupted. The call will be automatically forwarded to your voicemail.

How do I get to the Internet using BREW?
Using the MobileShop™ cart, you can download a variety of applications that can connect you to the internet such as programs for instant chat, email, web browsing, etc.

What happens when I receive a phone call while using a BREW application?
BREW will suspend the application and let you answer the call. Once your call is complete you are given the option to return to the game and continue where you left off.

Can I change my mind later about what pricing option I want?
Not if the application has been downloaded. You can remove the application and then download it again with a different price plan.

Am I charged for airtime when I connect to the MobileShop to download applications?
Yes. You will be charged for network usage when shopping, downloading disabling or removing an application.
Remember Whatever you do, the clock is running.

What is the difference between Disabling an Application and Removing an application?
Removing an application removes it completely from your device. If you wanted to use the application again, you would have to purchase and download it using MobileShop.
Disabling an application removes the application from memory, but retains the purchase information. You will use the Disable function if your device is running low on memory and you want to download a new application. By Disabling, you would be able to download the Disabled application again at any time and not have to pay for it twice.
However, for a disabled application based on a monthly subscription, the customer will still be charged the monthly fee.
Removing an application removes it completely from your device. If you wanted to use the application again, you would have to purchase and download it using MobileShop.
